Universal Design
Touchless faucets like Delta Faucet’s Pilar with Touch20 and the LG LMX28987ST refrigerator (due out Q3 2009) with an automated refrigerator drawer opening make life easier for those with arthritis. These Universal Kitchen Design innovations are in a growing product segment that appeal to homeowners that are interested in ease of use and for those homeowners who are planning for “Aging in Place” design. Intelligent Design
High tech innovations in kitchen design now make it easier than ever to prepare a five star meal at home. JENN-AIR’s Perimetric Hood sucks up cooking odors and greasy cooking air efficiently and looks great doing it – doesn’t look like the typical range hood and can be hung on the wall.Bosch’s AutoChef induction cooktop’s “ innovative sensor measures the temperature from the bottom of the pan and applies only the perfect amount of energy to the element in order to deliver precise cooking results, every time, and without waste of energy.” |
LED Lighting
Kichler LED under-cabinet lighting is one of the many LED options that were on display at KBIS 2009. |
Luxury for Less
Bad housing economics have some homeowners shunning high-end ticketed appliances and turning their eyes to kitchen appliances with high-end looks, functionality and style – but with a price tag that will please the financially savvy homeowner. Samsung and Kenmore have kitchen appliances that have high-end appeal with down to earth prices. (Images: Kenmore Elite Stainless Black refrigerator and Samsung RSG257AARS refrigerator). |
Chef Inspired Sinks
The serious home chef will delight in owning a multi-level sink that accommodates large pots and pans, while at the same time offering up the convenience of a staging prep area, cutting board and strainer as seen in the Blanco and Kohler sinks (pictured above). |
Modern Styling
| At KBIS 2009 modern kitchen styling with a strong European design influence took center stage. Heavily ornate kitchen styles were far and few between. |
Durable & Easy to Clean Kitchen Surfaces
Radianz by Staron (A Samsung company) brand of quartz surfacing is made from 93% quartz crystals and polymers. It is durable, waterproof, scratch and chip resistant and does not need to be sealed as do natural stone surfaces. |
