Style Divas – Best of the Web – July 13th 2007

Highlighting the very best and most fabulous design and style blogs/websites that make their home in this large, boundary-less world called cyberspace.

The criteria is simple – We look for value to the reader, engaging content, originality and creativity. Each week we will select the most outstanding posts or articles from sites we find or that are submitted to us for review. You can submit your design and style nominations to styledivasbestoftheweb@thedecoratingdiva.com.

  1. Although the Cheap Thrills post “How to tint black and white photos” is geared more toward crafters I thought that it might also prove helpful to decorating divas who would like to add a bit more charm to their black and white photos. The video illustrates how very easy it is to tint black and white photos – from what I saw it looks so much easier than playing around with the coloration tool in MS Digital Photo or Adobe Photoshop.
  2. Victoria Larson of “Decorating with Class” shows DIY design mavens how to create a simple and elegant headboard.
  3. Some Pink Flowers, is a delightful blog I recently found. It’s charming with lots of beautiful pictures. It also doesn’t hurt that there is a lot of pink. Extra points, always to other pink lovers :) The post “Tuesday tourist and the Alcazar Hotel” gives the reader a glimpse of the beautiful and enchanting Hotel Ponce De Leon built by Henry Flagler. Simply breathtaking.
  4. Susan Serra of “The Kitchen Designer” offers up a post (actually she will be writing a series of posts) on how to select kitchen cabinets. After reviewing Susan’s kitchen design site I can confidently tell you to bookmark it – The Kitchen Designer will make for a great resource companion when you set about remodeling or designing from scratch.
  5. Jennifer Ramos of “MadeByGirl” is a talented designer who can take the mundane and transform it into the extraordinary. I love the new coffee table – inspired by rock and roll and the Free Love Table.

Until next week – enjoy these great blogs and remember if you have a blog or website you think is absolutely fabulous then let us know -styledivasbestoftheweb@thedecoratingdiva.com.

Style Divas – Best of the Web – July 6th 2007

Highlighting the very best and most fabulous design and style blogs/websites that make their home in this large, boundary-less world called cyberspace.

The criteria is simple – We look for value to the reader, engaging content, originality and creativity. Each week we will select the most outstanding posts or articles from sites we find or that are submitted to us for review. Our first ever “Style Divas – Best of the Web” picks for July 6th 2007 are…drum roll please….

Desire to Inspire – Post on Smeg retro kitchen appliances. This post consists of few words but who needs words when the photos are so seductive? My heart is still racing. I have fallen completely in love with the Smeg pink retro appliances – featured in this post. “Desire to Inspire” blog’s authors brilliantly convey beauty and simplicity not only in this post but through out their entire site. Worth the visit and definitely a bookmark keeper.

katiedid proves that design inspiration is all around us. Her post on “Getting a Little Crabby” elevates the pinching crab to the status of style icon. Katie also elaborates on the astrological history and profile of the crab AKA Cancer -a beautiful example of “Designing for your Sign” :)

Palazzo To Do invites you into the renovation project of a 200 year old Italian house perched on a cliff overlooking the sea (the view and location are simply amazing) in the South of Italy. The photos are lovely and reading the ideas and plans the homeowner has for her home inspires.

My Marrekesh – Maryam illustrates that color and design inspiration are all around us – we just need to open our eyes and our minds to the beauty that surrounds us.

Casa Pinka frames the most stylish and elegant First Lady(EVER) – Jackie Kennedy Onassis. Casa Pinka was able to purchase a lovely vintage magazine with the divine style icon Jackie O on the cover. She will be framing said magazine cover to create an unique and interesting art piece. Her blog readers also have some wonderful ideas for the Jackie O cover as well as their own personal stories about decorating with pop icons – read them all.

Until next week – enjoy these great blogs and remember if you have a blog or website you think is absolutely fabulous then let us know -styledivasbestoftheweb@thedecoratingdiva.com.

Pretty in Pink Rugs

Such pretty rugs in my favorite color combinations – pink + any other color:) The rugs shown below are from the Dash and Albert Rug Company.

Brown Cow Jodie Stripe Palm Beach Ticking

The first rug shown on the left is called “Brown Cow” – strange name I would have picked a more retro styled name as it reminds me of Retro Chic. Cow is not the first thing to come to mind – brown or otherwise. The middle lovely is “Jodie Stripe” and its sporting the must have neutral – gray. And finally the last rug, shown on the right, is “Palm Beach Ticking“. It’s pretty in a faded Lily Pulitzer fashion as if you’d left your LP capris on the beach and came back to retrieve them a week later.
