About Paul Anater of Kitchen & Residential Design

image I am a kitchen and bath designer based in St. Petersburg, Florida. I’ve been designing in this market for almost ten years now and I’ve developed a great base of clients, many of whom have become friends. Two years ago I started a blog called Kitchen and Residential Design. My intention was for it to be an online resource for my kitchen and bath clients. It’s taken on a life of its own since then and its effects have been as thrilling as they’ve been surprising. Through my blog, I’m able to reach clients, vendors and colleagues I could have never met otherwise.

My blog’s become more broad in its subject matter since I started it, but my first love will always be kitchen design.

Design Talk & Look Book Inspiration

I tend to be a modernist when it comes to my personal preferences but as a designer I make a living from channeling my clients’ sensibilities, not mine. Well, that my goal anyway. Regardless of the style a room takes eventually, all of my projects are run using the same basic principals of design. Efficient function comes first and the trick is to deliver that function in an aesthetically pleasing room.

Despite my Modernist leanings, for this look book I chose to outfit a kitchen with some more traditional-feeling finishes. Rooms such as this allow me to specify upholstered furniture and fine art to be used, something I can’t always do but I love the feeling those sorts of things project. Inset cabinetry, marble counters, chrome fixtures and good-quality, practical furniture can combine to make a kitchen that’s as welcoming as it is usable.
