At a design fair brimming with innovative and beautiful design at each turn, I found my favorite lighting designer in the Interior Lifestyle Tokyo NEXT section – a slightly secluded quiet, peaceful corridor. One that I almost walked right on by had it not been for the alluring illumination of Sachie Muramatsu’s handcrafted romantic and feminine petal-like light pendants. One look and I immediately thought of one of my favorite designers, Jason Wu, whose exquisite couture creations express the beguiling feminine spirit with such totality.
Sachie Muramatsu, is a gifted, young lighting artist creating nature inspired delicate paper lamp shades (from traditional Japanese paper called Washi) for ceiling light fixtures.
The attention to detail is striking, each individual petal and leaf lovingly bears the gentle brush-stroked watercolor pigments. These almost fairytale inspired light shades would even enchant the famous flower resident, Thumbelina.
