I’m back from the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show 2009 in Atlanta, and have lots of photos and stories to share on new product debuts, design trends, best of show, kitchen and bath designers to watch and so much more.   I’ve spotlighted a few of my favorite products below. Hope you enjoy them.

The Intarcia tub by Matthew Quinn for MTI Whirlpools debuted at Atlanta’s famed Fox Theater. The Fox Theater was the perfect backdrop for Atlanta-based designer Matthew Quinn’s bath collection for MTI. The rich and vibrant architectural design of the theater further brought to light the artistic and sculptural character imbued in each sink and tub. Lots more photos of the MTI collection by Matthew Quinn and the interior of the Fox Theater in our Kitchen and Bath issue.

Say goodbye to those boring, basic white closet washers and dryers- LG’s compact laundry systems are a dream for decorating divas living in small spaces like condos and apartments.  These units are so stylish and chic, you may not want to close the laundry closet door.

With an entertaining pancake cook-off between football superstar, Eli Manning and his lovely mother Olivia, followed by a performance from the enigmatic Blue Man Group – Sears unveiled a range of kitchen and laundry appliances from GE, Kenmore Elite, Samsung, Electrolux and Bosch.  The washer and dryer set shown above are from the GE Profile collection. Love the color and I believe these are available now.  Bosch debuted their absolutely gorgeous stainless steel,  long door refrigerator at the show as well as their AutoChef cook top range- I’ll bring those photos to you in the Kitchen and Bath issue.

Novellini International Design captured my attention with their Cristal free standing bathtub.  This clear, glass bathtub is the very essence of inspired design.

Is it a lovely crystal chandelier ? Nope, it’s a divinely designed range hood. True design genius at work. I for one detest the functional, yet not so attractive range hoods that are a necessary “evil” in the kitchen. No one wants their home smelling of cooked fish, stale grease or worse yet, as is the case in my kitchen – just about anything burned and charred – so a hood range is a requirement. Elica has elevated the hard working hood extractor into a work of art that marries style and function with it’s new Elica Star – shown above.

Toto delivers on innovative design and advanced technology in an earth-friendly manner.  These hand painted 24 carat gold “Cherry Blossoms” pedestal sink and toilet are part of Toto’s Waza Miyabi collection.

GE Profile kitchen appliance display at the Sears booth. The modern stainless steel design is softened by the curved frames around the glass. Also the slightly curved handles make this a much more “feminine” styled kitchen as opposed to the many kitchen appliances that have a harder, more masculine feel.
Pascal Culinary Faucet by Brizo
Brizo’s Pascal hands-free faucet offers beautiful design coupled with smart, universal design. The touch to use and easy to push buttons on the pull-down sprayer will make this faucet a favorite for homeowners with arthritic or weak hands (no more painful hand twisting or turning) as well as those who love to cook  (free up hands – just touch and go).

LG multi-door refrigerator is another product at K/BIS 2009 that takes into consideration the concept of Universal Design. One touch operation opens drawers and makes life easier for homeowners that don’t have the strength to pull.

STAY TUNED FOR Bill Sofield’s Bathroom Design Collection for Kallista (Kohler )images.

Coming soon.

Bill Sofield designed the most beautiful, soothing, comforting and inspiring bath retreat  for Kallista (Kohler).  By far my most favorite display at K/BIS. I did snap a photo of Sofield’s exquisitely designed vignette, but promised to hold the photo until until the official photographs are released.
