image Decor Shopping:  Bedroom Decor Resources from Annette Tatum’s Style Maker Look Book

imageAnnette Tatum is a textile artist, and the creative visionary and driving imageforce behind two renowned interior decor lines, House, Inc. and Little House, which are carried in more than 700 boutiques nationwide.

Annette is also the author of the fantastic fashion-inspired home design book, The Well-Dressed Home. The book is an absolute visual treat, and should be part of every decorating divas’ decorating  and design inspiration library.

Annette defines her approach to design and personal style as changing and evolving over time: “I have often said that I like everything. That is to say that my likes and dislikes have changed over the years depending upon my lifestyle. When I was single I was more adventurous with my design palette, when I started having children I became more practical. The result over the past 15 years has led me to live a very “layered” life. Full of treasures and memories from the many different influences and experiences I have had. “ (Source)

Annette is based in Santa Monica and her designs can be found in the homes and closets of Marcia Cross, Owen Wilson and Minnie Driver, among others. Her work has been featured in Romantic Homes, People, In Style, Country Living and Elle Décor.

Tech Decor: Home Decor & Design Trends 2010

TECH DECOR

Our daily lives are greatly influenced by technology. We check our Facebook updates on our mobile phones. We send email messages across the globe in milliseconds. News breaks and we’re immediately notified, once again on our wireless phones, Pocket PCs or Netbooks. We are connected and moving at the speed of technology. So now are our homes. We can create our perfect home by jumping online, a few mouse clicks buys decor, furniture and whatever else our hearts desire.

Technology is now allowing us to create the decor and furnishings we desire – not just buy it, but design it.  We are now the design artist.  Case in point, “Digital Leather” utilizing a new patented digital print media called SmartFilm developed by SIF Technologies, which makes it possible for you to design (From color to pattern to texture) the leather which can be used to upholster any number of products from chairs to sofas to headboards to walls and doors.

Then there’s the technology at home that makes your life so much better. We are all familiar with the great technological advances in kitchen and laundry appliance design, but going forward expect to find even more interesting home technologies like the Prodigy bed by Leggett & Platt becoming popular. The Prodigy adjustable bed helps reduce snoring, integrates with your iPod, and helps gently transition you from a sleep state to an active state.
