Using The Decorating Style Discovery Journal - Signature Decorating Style Series

Each of the seven Style Discovery Journal folders will serve as a retainer for the materials you will be collecting on your assignments. An overview of what items to put in each folder follows:

1. Color: This includes any pictures you see in magazines that depict décor or even clothes in the colors you like, color chips from the paint store, cosmetic colors and basically any image or sample of color that tickles your fancy and makes you happy.
2. Fabric: In the fabric folders keep: fabric swatches and images of fabrics that you like.
3. Window Treatments: Collect brochures, pictures and small samples of window treatments and place them in this folder.
4. Wall Treatments: When you find wall treatments that you like place them in this folder. The items that would be appropriate for this folder include wallpaper, faux finish samples, images of murals and other wall treatments.
5. Flooring Selections: This folder should contain brochures and images of flooring. If you have samples, put them in a box or storage container.
6. Furniture: Images and pictures from furniture stores, flyers and magazines should be placed in this folder. (This folder can also contain items related to large appliances for kitchen or plumbing fixtures for bathrooms - simply tailor the folder to your design needs.)
7. Décor & Accessories: Images of pillows, lamps, artwork, rugs, florals, tassels, accent furniture and all items that give a room its unique personality belong in this folder.

Journal (Note Paper)
The loose-leaf paper will serve as your journal, a place for you to make notes and paste images to help you discover you signature decorating style. The note paper can be placed either in the front or back of your Style Discovery Journal.
