Rachel Ashwell made Shabby Chic famous and in the years after she introduced the world to flea market finery there has been barely a slow down. Design styles do fade and go away with time – remember the French Country craze from three years ago. Toile was every where and frankly it started to feel overdone.
Inexplicably, shabby chic or flea market design hasn’t waned. Perhaps it’s the romantic, feminine appeal combined with the soul comforting visual softness of the shabby chic style.
The distressed furniture, the crumpled rose-colored floral duvet, the crisp white sofa slip cover and the aged crystal chandelier seems to beckon me into it’s warm, familiar embrace. Shabby Chic is informal elegance wrapped in comfort. Perhaps that’s the secret to its longevity. Some of my favorite shabby chic finds include the
House Inc. Grand Fleur Rose Bedding Collection from Not Too Shabby pictured on the left. Also from Not Too Shabby, the beautiful and very feminine Elizabeth Chandelier ($598) by Maura Daniel .
Featured above is the Shabby White Collection from Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic designs available at Lavender Fields Home Boutique. Where most white linens look institutional these are far from that the ruffled edges on the bedding gently remind you of its uniquely feminine charm. The bedding looks comfortable and inviting – the perfect place to spend a Saturday morning curled up with your favorite book and a cup of that calming cinnamon and apple herbal tea that brings a smile to your heart.

Pink-tastic Diva Christmas Decorating Theme
Bored of the same old holiday decor year after year? Then shake it up a bit. Embrace non-traditional Christmas colors such as pink in all of its various hues. It’s different. It’s a conversation maker and best of all it will bring the holiday joy back to your heart.
Dress up your traditional Christmas tree with the truly glam Lily Pulitzer pink color-themed ornaments (shown on left). Lily ornaments available at horchow.com, they come packaged in the most adorable ready-to-gift containers so buy one for your Christmas tree and one for a friend’s ($44 each).

Want to make a clean break from tradition and start anew? Say goodbye to your traditional china and hello to Missoni Margherita pink retro
inspired dinnerware (Horchow.com, starts at $56). The festive pink, yellow and blue pattern will make your holiday dinner party the talk of the town and you will inspire other pink lovers to publicly proclaim their love for pink and follow in your fashionable trend-setting footsteps to create their own pink themed winter wonderland.
Speaking of a pink themed winter wonderland we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the dazzling pink pre-lit Christmas tree from treetopia.com ($299, 6′ tree) . The pink Christmas tree is only for the boldest decorating diva, one who isn’t afraid of what the neighbors will think – no she simply does it and worries not if others may tut-tut her decorating choice. In fact, so confident is she in her design choices that she ignites the desire in others to take the decorating leap and to take bold chances with colors, patterns and styles.

Pretty in Pink Rugs
Such pretty rugs in my favorite color combinations – pink + any other color:) The rugs shown below are from the Dash and Albert Rug Company.

The first rug shown on the left is called “Brown Cow” – strange name I would have picked a more retro styled name as it reminds me of Retro Chic. Cow is not the first thing to come to mind – brown or otherwise. The middle lovely is “Jodie Stripe” and its sporting the must have neutral – gray. And finally the last rug, shown on the right, is “Palm Beach Ticking“. It’s pretty in a faded Lily Pulitzer fashion as if you’d left your LP capris on the beach and came back to retrieve them a week later.
